In celebration of Women's History Month, the Women in the Arts & Media Coalition continues its yearly Women Arts Day--in collaboration with our member organizations, including SAG-AFTRA, WomenArts, NYWIFT, and the School of Visual Arts BFA Film Department.

A talkback after the film will be between the star of the film, Patricia Clarkson, and Rebecca Damon, the Chief Labor Policy Officer and New York Local Executive Director for SAG-AFTRA.

This year's event will be on Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at SVA Theater at 333 East 23rd Street. The film will be LILLY.

LILLY is a dramatic feature film starring Patricia Clarkson, John Benjamin Hickey and Thomas Sadoski, about an Alabama tire factory worker who fights for justice after 20 years of being mistreated and cheated by the company. An emotional journey of heartbreak and euphoria, LILLY is the story of an ordinary woman who stands up to powerful corporate and political forces, underscoring the impact a single, courageous person can have on society. 

Based on the remarkable life of Lilly Ledbetter, directed by Rachel Feldman, LILLY won BEST of the FEST at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival and was awarded the Anti Defamation League’s STAND UP AWARD at the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Patricia Clarkson is an Oscar nominated and Emmy-Award and Golden Globe winning actor known for her powerful performances especially in Independent films. In 2003, Patricia received a special acting prize at the Sundance Film Festival for her superb work in three films: The Station Agent, Pieces of April and All the Real Girls. She was nominated for a "Best Supporting Actress" Oscar for Pieces of April. She also received the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Society of Film Critics awards for her work in Far From Heaven, and she won a British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Party.

On TV, Patricia received two Emmys for her recurring guest part in Six Feet Under. In 2017. She also guest-starred on the fifth and sixth seasons of House of Cards and the minseries Sharp Objects, (2018) . For her performance in the series, Clarkson won a Golden Globe Award. In 2023, Clarkson assumed the lead role in the espionage thriller series Gray.

Rebecca Damon is the Chief Labor Policy Officer and New York Local Executive Director for SAG-AFTRA. As part of the executive leadership team, Damon oversees the Labor Policy & International Affairs department and has oversight of the Locals outside of Los Angeles and New York.

A champion for workers’ rights, Rebecca Damon has advocated for a worker centered trade policy and protections for SAG-AFTRA members in a fast-changing technological landscape and increasingly globalized creative industry. Damon’s leadership includes strengthening New York’s right of publicity and digital image rights for the benefit of all members. She has been recognized five years in a row as one of the most noteworthy figures on the front lines of New York by City and State Labor Power 100, and was named to the City and State 2023 Power of Diversity: Women 100 list. She is on the board of PowHer NY, an inclusive statewide network committed to securing economic equality for all women. 

After the films and talkback, there will be food, drink, and networking. As every year, the event will be free, sponsored by the Coalition and the participating organizations.
